Yes, we do, but only as a supporting tool — never as a replacement for human judgement. Every piece of content on Castradar.uk, from a cast list to a streaming explainer, is reviewed by an experienced editor before it is published. Our readers can trust that what they see has been checked for accuracy, tone and relevance.
Digital tools help our team with research, formatting, metadata and occasional headline options. For example, an AI tool might pull together a list of credited actors from a public database, or suggest a summary of a film’s plot. That raw material is then refined, cross-checked and given context by a human editor who knows the guide’s standards. No content goes live without a person – either a managing editor, a section editor or a fact-checker – signing it off.
Automation is never allowed to fabricate cast credits, quotes, sources, interviews, bylines or an author’s personal experience. If a tool produces something that looks like a direct quote, it is automatically discarded unless a human editor can verify it from a primary source. Similarly, any credit or cast member that cannot be confirmed through reliable industry databases or official programme information is removed. How this works in practice
Take a recent example: when we prepared our guide to the second series of The Responder on BBC One, the editorial team used automated tools to pull together a preliminary cast list from the show’s credits and press materials. That list was then handed to our TV & Streaming Editor, Isabelle Knight, who checked every name against the official BBC press pack and cross-referenced with the actors’ own verified social media or agency profiles. Where a credit was uncertain, Patrick Nolan’s fact-checking team requested clarity from the production company.
One actor’s character name was initially listed as “Gary” – but the broadcaster’s final schedule showed the character was actually “Gaz”. Who oversees this policy?

All editors are trained to recognise the limits of automation and to treat any AI-generated text as a draft, not a final product. Our funding comes from display advertising, affiliate links (including streaming and ticketing partners), commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing. Sponsored material is always clearly labelled, and affiliate links are disclosed.
